Irish and American Whiskey: the Rise, Fall and Revival of Two Great Whiskey Nations

For those wanting to learn more about the sensational stories behind Irish and American whiskey – strap yourselves in. We begin in Ireland, the likely birthplace of whiskey, and trace the development of the 'water of life' from poitín to global acclaim; ride through the American central mid-west to reveal the origins of rye and bourbon whiskey; we then dissect the near death of whiskey production in both countries thanks, largely, to one of the world’s most baffling human experiments – prohibition. But as you’ll find out, whiskey in Ireland and the US has boomed once again, and now hundreds of distilleries on both sides of the Atlantic are offering up their elixirs to the world. With more twists than a worm tub, and more turns than the Mississippi, this entertaining class will give you a memorable tour of two of the world’s greatest whiskey nations.
